Why should we choose film?

For us, the best thing about film is that it is something genuine and honest. It is about capturing a beautiful moment on a very tactile medium, something you can see, touch and feel. The images have that lovely softness to them and that beautiful grain that is so pleasing to the eye.

What packages do you offer?

We have tried to break down how our film packages work as these are supplementary products to our usual wedding packages. All additional costs below are to give you an idea but please get in touch as we like to bespoke our packages, especially when choosing film. We offer a few different ways to combine film with our normal packages because we believe it adds so much to the day.

Option 1 - by the roll

This is a great option to add in film without going crazy - as beautiful as film is - it is quite an expensive medium to use!

With this option, you can add on by the roll, this means we will take shots on our film cameras (yep always more than one to make sure we have a backup!) and we price this from £150 a roll. 

You get 36 shots on a roll of 35mm film in our cameras - however we usually would deliver less than this number to you as some will be required for test shots, different angles and maybe they just didn't work out. We always guarantee 10 beautiful images per roll of 36 (and of course you could end up with even more!) We also try our best to capture the key moments on film

If this is your vibe - we would recommend going for a minimum of two rolls to get a good level of photographs along with your digital ones.

Option 2 - the full monty

This is the option if you love the look of film, if you want your entire day captured on film (and who wouldn't??) then spring for this.

With this option, we don't charge by the roll, we don't limit the number and we bring a healthy number of rolls from our fridge to make sure we capture everything. We still shoot digital and we still capture everything combined so you don't miss out on anything.

You get a second shooter included as standard in this option and we will both be adorned with various cameras to capture everything!

How does the process work?

Well, it is very similar to our digital offerings in the way we shoot but of course there are some shots and effects that work better on film (especially that sweet halation you can get - where all the lights go soft and dreamy!). 

We cover the wedding fully using this analogue film method - we utilise 35mm film of all different types. If you have a preference on the type of film we use (specific looks/brands/colour/black and white) let us know - otherwise we will choose what we think suits your wedding best and discuss with you beforehand whether you prefer contrasty, cinematic, black and white etc. to get a feel for your vibe.

When shooting with film it is important to recognise its charm as an analogue medium which is really why we love it so much! However, this does mean it will have grain in the images and when we are shooting in dark rooms, the party in the evening or with certain types of film, this can be really prominent. For us this makes the image even more beautiful but please discuss with us if you have any concerns.

After the day, a lot of work goes into preparing the photos for you, with film, we send these off to our trusted lab in London, who use the finest scanning equipment to provide us with ultra high resolution scans of the film. We then make any small corrections to contrast etc. and fully edit your digital photos to blend with the film ones!
