The Mews, Southend - Essex Wedding Photography
As Essex wedding photographers, we had a brilliant time capturing a wedding at The Mews in Southend. It's a relaxed, characterful venue with outdoor tables, warm interiors and a sociable atmosphere, and it proves that a wedding doesn't need a grand estate to feel special. From the moment we arrived, the day had the feel of a big, happy gathering of people who love each other.
We began the morning with bridal preparations, where the light was soft and bright and everything felt calm. We photographed the shoes by the window, the satin of the dress, the veil going on and the small details that make a day personal, including the velvet ring boxes in sage and blush and a bouquet of soft pink and cream blooms. Alongside it, we documented the groom and his party in their summery suits, relaxed and laughing together before things got underway.
The ceremony took place at a beautiful historic church with stone walls and stained glass windows. The bride arrived in a vintage white car, and the anticipation as she walked in made for some of our favourite frames of the day. Afterwards, we gathered everyone together on the grass beneath the church tower for a joyful group photo, with guests in shades of sage green and soft summer colours. As experienced Essex wedding photographers, we know how to position ourselves discreetly to capture every emotion without intruding.
Back at The Mews, guests spread out across the outdoor tables with drinks while we took the couple away for relaxed portraits, making the most of the light and the quieter corners around the venue. As evening came, the mood shifted. Candles and string lights filled the space, speeches brought laughter and a few happy tears, and we found plenty of quiet moments between the two of them, including a veil-draped black and white portrait that is one of our favourites from the whole day.
Then came the dancing. Heart-shaped fans appeared, the dance floor filled quickly and the guests kept going long into the night, with plenty of energy, laughter and chaos for us to document. That mix of intimate details and lively celebration is exactly what we love about weddings at The Mews.
